Yesterday I received my acceptance to University of Calgary's Masters of Environmental Design (Planning) program. This is the last piece of the puzzle for the move out West. Now everything is in place, Darlene has a job, we have a place to live and I have my acceptance to school. It is quite amazing how all things have fallen into place. We feel unbelievably blessed by God's grace, but we also know that being away from friends and family will have its own challenges. As we move out west you can track our trip across the country at www.jonanddarlene.schmidty.ca
Well, if some of you already visited here you may have noticed the random order of the wedding slideshow. Darlene and I have added some more pictures (thanks Shari :) and cleaned up the order, so now you get a new and improved chronological slideshow from the whole wedding weekend. It still might take awhile to load all the images for slower connections. We hope you enjoy :) J & D
Wow, isn't she beautiful!! Here's the first of many photos from the wedding. Please browse the photo slideshows on your left. My apologies for the long loading time and random order for the slideshow, regardless enjoy :)
Darin sent me this photo below and I did some photoshop techniques on it. I selected Darlene and I with the marquee tool, copied us into a new layer, then went back to the other layer and blurred it - giving the effect seen.
Wow! The last two weeks have been fabulous! If any of you do not know already, on February 26, 2005 Darlene and I were married at Listowel Missionary Church. The wedding was the most fun day in all the world, as it should be I might add. Our families and friends made the day very special with all of their speeches, stories and support. Darlene and I were quite suprised at all of our adventureous friends and families who took up many of our challenges during the reception time. Following our wedding day we spent half a week in a resort near Huntsville, enjoying many winter activities such as x-country skiing, toboganning, skating, snoeshoeing and even dogsledding! Don't change that dial - pictures will be following shortly. Now we are back, getting settled into the swing of married life. Stay tuned here for lots of wedding pictures and more stories.
Well folks, it's only 10 days until Darlene and I get married. How amazing, after 9 months of waiting and anticipation it now comes down to ten days. The events leading up to the wedding have been great, such as our stag and doe in the fall and our marriage couselling with Pastor Brent. Naturally, I'm looking forward to next Saturday to see all the skits and crazy stories that come out. Shari Paetkau has prepared a slideshow that is sure to be a great finale to the reception. See you all there and for those I don't see there, I'll be in touch. God bless.
With the wedding less than two months away my lack of writing here can be blamed on the busyness of planning for a wedding. Since weddings come essentially only once in a lifetime it's definitely more important that I plan the wedding than put my thoughts on the web. I am currently attempting to balance full-time graphic design work for Gifts From the Heart, wedding planning, job searching, spending time with Darlene and finishing a draft of my thesis for publication. I pray God gives me the strength to accomplish all that must be done for today and not to worry about tomorrow.
Wow, I can't believe I've been engaged for almost 2 months already! The time really does go by fast. Pretty soon I'll be getting married! But until then I'll be working on the wedding plans with Darlene. One of my jobs is to get a website up where people can learn about Darlene and I and get some information about the wedding. I have a preliminary start on the website at Jon and Darlene's Wedding Site Have a look and let me know what you think? The fun has only begun.
